Chestnuts, milk, and mulled wine for the King

Once again we will meet at the Eremo Sant’Alberto for our yearly appointment with the traditions from our valleys: chestnut soup with milk from cows of our local breed (varzese) made by chef Piera Spalla of the restaurant Il Selvatico in Rivanazzano Terme (PV) and mulled wine superbly prepared by Giovanna and Caterina Brazzola of the Montelio winery in Codevilla (PV). This event joins religious traditions and folklore: on one hand, the celebrations in honour of St. Antonio Abate will include the blessing of the animals and a Mass at 4:30 pm – on the other, the genetic and genealogical research group The Auramala Project will tell you about the latest developments of its investigation about the fate of King Edward II (whose tomb, according to legend, is located at the Eremo itself) and will be happy to answer your questions and satisfy your curiosity.

Long live the King!
